WEDNESDAY JULY 1ST
- SEMINAR DAY
|
Multimedia Services for Research and Education
Seminar chair: Geir Pedersen, NewLearning AS
This seminar will provide insight into the current status
for IETF and ITU protocols based real time multimedia services
on the Internet. The seminar includes short presentations of
several interesting international research and pilot projects
employing this technology for learning and collaboration. The
seminar is structured as a series of presentations covering
- ITU and IETF protocols for real time conferencing
- Network aspects including multicast and resource reservation
- Deployment aspects including bandwidth requirements, router
and end-system support
- Available applications for the most common platforms
- Examples of current research and piloting projects
There will be time for discussions with the
presenters. Documentation will be provided in the form of hand
outs and a web-site with annotated links to relevant places
on the web. A time limited electronic distribution list
including the participants and presenters will be set up for
continued discussions after the close of the seminar.
